Whole Life almost paid up, do I pay or withdraw cash?
my parents started a policy of WL worth 200k, when I was 13 years and it's been almost 20 years and that 2-3 years away from being released (my agent), I limit myself to suck it up and pay it up or should I charge now? He said policy is to get an interest rate of 5.5% expect all this makes sense, I'm not that smart .. sure thanks! I do not need the money. and as more research on WL, I'm reading tons of opinions on how to scam a waste that is. I'm watching the situation, since the market is so beat up at this time I'm sure I can do better than 5.5% in a mutual fund in the long term.
If you are so close to having fully paid up, wait a bit and pay if above. I do not know what your personal situation is, but if you have children, buy a house, start a business, after which the insurance will be very useful and save you having to buy more secure on the road. Along the way, you can also borrow the cash value to add to your income tax free. In a limited pay policy is very rare that you are going to cancel it when you're past the halfway point. I guess cash value that is near where the value we put in value or would leave it in case of disaster. Unless you are absolutely desperate for money, do not cancel.
